Default Long hot starts

So, recently my car has been progressively harder to start whenever it is warm. I do not think the starter is getting heat soaked, because it spins at the same rate as when it's cold. I measured the fuel pressure at the rail, and it's getting 56lbs at prime with only a 2 to 3 lb decrease at start. The fuel pump, a walbro 255, is sounding very obviously different sometimes: sort of like its strained. That's what got me thinking that it may be a fuel issue. The car will start when hot when I play with the throttle pedal. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, and sorry for any grammatical errors.

It may not be fuel related if it's difficult to restart hot. Do put a fuel pressure gauge on it and see how long it holds pressure after shut off, there is a spec, usually 1/2 of running pressure up to 20 mins. But check crank angle sensor, if it's weak it could create prolonged cranking until ecm sees perfect pattern, I know it's tough to check without osiliscope so try a different one. If you need to open the throttle plate to restart after hot then you should go in that direction, IAC etc. if cable and TB diagnostics if it's drive by wire, hope this helps.

How long has it been since you changed the spark plugs? It wasn't happening with my ls1 camaro but in one of my other cars, I was having horrendous hot start problems where I would sit there cranking the car for a while before it would start, changed the spark plugs and it started rut up on hit starts. Or is your starter laboring to turn over? If that's the case, I would say to check the battery to see if its putting out enough juice to turn the starter

The starter sounds like it's fine. I'll go out and check the plugs now.

It might be a shot in the dark but if you haven't changed spark plugs in a while it wouldn't hurt.

Also fwiw just pulling and cleaning the plugs didn't do it for me, I had to actually replace them with brand new ones

Mine did the same thing when my pump was starting to go bad. I think my check valve was getting stuck, but in order to replace it I had to do the whole pump

Was it making the same sort of weird noises at prime?

The coolant temp sensor is a good idea, but I'm wondering if it has something to do with the pump. It's consistently making really odd noises, and now the car isn't starting even when it's cold. Previously, I was having some electrical issues, where the gauge cluster/stereo would reset whenever I tapped the brakes. So, either the pump is somehow mechanically faulty, or maybe it isn't getting sufficient electrical power?
