Default Wrecked 5.3L (Engine Autopsy)

My friend blew up his 5.3L LM7 mere moments after swapping it into his Camaro. We think it was an oiling issue. I'll upload more video as we go. Let us know what you think.

You may know this but just for clarification - make sure your buddy runs a good poly trans mount when using solid motor mounts. You do not want transmission bellhousing flex independent of the rest of the drivetrain under any circumstances. Not nice things happen if this were to occur.

Good luck on the 6.0 build. Interested to see the diagnostic of damage and to know what tolerances were used on the mains and rod bearings as well as video footage showing them.

Good thinking. Dude isn't a big fan of rubber (hence his pregnant wife) so I'm guessing the trans mount is solid as well. I should have part 2 up tomorrow.

Part 2

Part 3 tomorrow, looking at it in the video I think the trans mount might actually be rubber.

Part 4&5:

I think we've found what put the hole in the side of the block. We'll get into the bottom end tomorrow in part 6.

Part 7:

We're not done. I fully intend to take the bottom end out of the motor completely. If you watch near the end when we wiggle the #8 rod (well we call it 8 in the video, its probably 7) it looks like there is a crack in the end cap. I didn't notice it until I was uploading the video. We'll check that out next time.
