Default Heads and milling question

Ok so my new cam goes in next weekend and in a few months ill be getting heads to go with it

cam is the SpeedInc Si6 cam - 235/240 .643/.609 111+1

from talking to Nick it is quite tame for its size and fits my application and goals nicely. ive noticed it is almost identical to the TSP Tsunami cam

the Texas-Speed cam is 235/240 .648/.609 111

what im needing to know is what would be my best budget option for heads. i have a guy locally who does hand porting on heads and im going to use stock castings

either some (243/799) or some 5.3 heads hand ported.
what id like to know is if and how much can i mill either of these? id like to be able to safely get my CR close to 11:1 with the best flowing head possible and NO FLYCUTTING

Well I see that's a triky question! I'm sure more experienced people will chime in.

Anyways you can safely mill 0.040" of any of those heads before you have intake alignment issues.

Milling the 5.3 heads 0.040" will put you around 55-56 cc chambers, but you'll have to fly-cut.

You should consult SpeedInc about this build as this is one of their cams.

Good luck.

i have PRC heads at 62cc and .040 head gaskets, my compression sits just about 11.1:1, but i have a smaller cam then you.

Since you only need a 62cc chamber for 11:1, the 862 castings are probably you're best bet. They start off at around 61cc, and after a valvejob and blending, you'll still have smaller chambers than the stock 243/799 heads.

I'm working on a set of 862's and after cutting the valvejob for 2.02"/1.57" valves, the chambers are sitting at 63cc.

and i did email speedinc.. didnt really get a straight answer. all i got was that the 58cc patriot heads with the recessed valves would clear but nothing about what stock heads would be best and if i could mill either of them... i know its a 111+1 so im gonna assume that it has more low end than the tsunami does and might not need the compression bump as much. so what do you guys think would be the best for me? all im going to do is have a buddy hand port the heads and do a basic valve job nothing crazy.

he had a mild set of 243's he did flowed and the numbers were

Intake Exhaust
.200 141 119
.300 200 155
.400 247 184
.450 265 190
.500 282 196
.550 294 203
.600 301 204

not bad for $400 for the pair

that cam should be 235/240 .621/.609 111+1 and i was told any milling of more than .015 will cause clearance issues i bought the same cam from tony and thats exactly how it was expained to me plus doing heads along with that cam causes a need for fuel sytem upgrading like pump injectors fuel rail etc if i was to go any further than justcam bolt ons i would port polish your stock heads do your intake either ls6 or fast gears and put it on the bottle

Outside of a slight cleanup on 5.3L heads (.010"), you probably won't get much to clear. Maybe some AI or TEA LS6 heads with stock valves would clear with a .010" mill. Maybe.

Also, there's no way that cam is tame. If the .643" is the correct lift, that's an LSK lobe and that will beat the **** out of your valvetrain. Better invest in some high quality springs.
