Not another "H/C" thread
Not another "H/C" thread Yup.. Another thread asking for guidance from the vets who have already done their H/C swap. Looking for a setup that gives me a balance of tq and hp. I have the supporting mods. Just debating on which setup to go with offered by TSP. They have the Stage 2.5 5.3L h/c with the ported ls6 oil pump, C5Z timing chain, 7.4" pushrods, .650" dual valvespring kit/titanium retainers which I was looking at. Looking at a nice lopey cam that has good street manners. Are rockers a must here? If so, point me in the right direction.
im currently running the stage 2.5 5.3 heads from TSP. THey are good budget build heads forsure.. my car has great street manners though i dont drive it often. its got the torquer v2 cam.. sounds great too. I can post some videos aswell if you'd like
- also, i wouldnt worry about rockers at this point unless youre getting a really BIG cam. but you can also consider a trunion upgrade. youre in the right mind as far as the timing chang and pushrods ect... should get all of that in the package any how

Just debating if I want to pick up some heads off the parts classifieds or if I want to pick some up from TSP. Was thinking about running the torquer V3. Looking for a nice loud and lopey cam. Need some suggestions.
i'll know my numbers by monday. Hopefully will be good but you might wanna look into a cam from Tick Performance.

I picked up a set of PRC 2.5 5.3's off here at a good price so I would get some off the classified's before spending the money on new but thats your call.

Those PRC 5.3 heads are a good bang for the buck. As for cam, I'd honestly take a look at what Tick Performance has to offer (they also have a 10% military discount). Their SNS TorqueMax stage 2 has 110+3 LSA which will definitely give you some lope. I believe they offer a complete cam package too.
wow! nice numbers. if only i could get that...I'll know mine soon enough but with 2.5 5'3's and the SNS cam from Tick which is comparable to the V3

Just to be clear the military discount is only good for the products we manufacture. Thanks for the suggestions guys, but it sounds like the op has already talked to tsp and I don't want to step on their sales purposely.
