Need help trying to choose a cam
I have an 00' Trans Am WS6 with an LS1. Im going to start buying some of the stuff for my engine mods such as my headers, exhaust, ORY-Pipe, cam, and tune. Any ideas on a cam to get? I have been thinking about a Texas Speed Torquer V2 232/234 .595"/.598" package from TSP.

Im running a 6 speed manual Trans with 3.73 gears. I have also been looking at a MS3 cam also. Just trying to get some feedback on those cams and which would be better for my setup.

You could run the cam I have Comp XR281HR (228/230 .571/.573). With stock heads and an LS6 intake the car put down 391rwhp/368rwtq through an A4 with a 3600 convertor. This cam is also on a XE lobe so it will be easier on the valvetrain.

For a cam only street car, I am of the opinion to go a little smaller and keep your dcr up, something like a 228/232. Ive run big cams on 6 speed street cars with no issues (stock 3.42 even), but the power down low is lacking. There are minimal trade offs between a 228/232 and the 232/234 though. The V2 should lose a little down low (10-15 whp maybe) but make it back up top. LSL lobes are easier on valve train parts and are quicker off the seat. LSL versions would be 227/231 and 231/235 respectively. Find yourself a LS6 intake first and foremost though.

The Torquer V2 is a decent cam, I have a couple buddies that run it with good results. But, it uses the old style aggressive XER lobes. There are other newer cams that are easier on the springs and make more power that you might want to consider nowadays. Maybe something from Tick Performance, like the street heat stage 2 cam?

I am currently running the TSP TV2 cam on a 114lsa and love it. I put down 420whp and 393tq with basic bolt ons. The 114 lsa is great on the street and the car makes great power under the curve IMO.
When choosing a cam you have to consider how much drive-ability you are willing to give up. I have a buddy with an MS3 and we were both tuned by the same guy and on the same dyno, and I pull on him in each gear. Bigger isn't always better especially with stock heads.

the torquer v2 is a better street cam then a ms3,the ms3 is harder on valve springs.the torquer v3 will make a little more power then the v2 ,but it needs a spring upgrade.420 rwhp from a tv2 is good power.order a ls2 timing chain ,and consider rebuilding your rocker arms if the mileage is high.

There's comp cams lsr series cams. I've got the 273 in my 6.0 and have m6 with 3.42 and it drives good. Maybe go a cam size or 2 higher. Lsr lobes have a bigger base circle so it helps the bottom end torque out tons. Soft of the seat with the fastest ramp rate they offer. They designed it to have a long lasting valvetrain.

I have had alot of people say good things about the Torquer v2 cam, and my buddy loves his. He said it's pretty mild and would be good for the setup im looking for. He's only got headers, exhaust, Tv2 Cam 112 LSA, and a tune making 398rwhp @ 21-23 mpg too. I also want new heads and intake so im hoping for a little more power, like around 430rwhp would be nice. I need to know what to get with the package though such as the LSA, valve springs etc...

Since its a street car, I'd get the comp 918's (.625 lift) with tool steel retainers or PAC 1211X. Brian Tooley racing has some really great prices on spring kits too. Then I'd find a set of cheap 241's and send them to AI for the HCR 219 CNC program.
