Default Large cams = po121 code?

I know it sounds like a pcm/tuning section thing but mods please dont put it there otherwise it could be lost. As some of you may know after i put in my 231/237 cam my car felt like it was down on power...got it dynoed and made really decent #'s IMO so im like wtf guess its fixed right? Wrong I brought it to the track and the car shifted to 3rd gear out of the hole and was in 4th by 28mph...I did some searching and it seems alot of guys that run cams over 230 duration have a p0121 code show up...then went to get tuned at a local shop and they told me about it and i had also noticed the code with autotap, but they just said to keep an eye on it and if need be replace it, which i did when i got home...the shop already erased the code so I dont see it show up but thats why the car felt like it was down on power...it just wasnt shifting into the correct gear. Obvioulsy there are only so many automatic guys that go with a big cam like this and alot get tuning from the place where they bought the cam who may already know about this situation. I dont think my tuner was aware and now ive got to go back to make some adjustments. Ive found a couple of ways to fix it from using edit to messing with the idle set screw and using a mulitmeter on your tps sensor. I just wanted to throw a heads up out there to auto/manual guys considering the trex, v2, 231/237 type cams that you may have this problem...if theres anyone thats done the fix please post so others can see...hopefully mine will be running right tomorrow

lata

I had that same code when I first installed the 231/237 in my car. There is a table in edit that you have to change the values in to fix it. Do a search in the Tuning section, there is a couple of A4 guys that were having the same problem as you and changing those values fixed it. Btw... Jason @ TSP took care of mine via my mail order tune, you might want to call him and get his input.

yah before the tuning i had asked him for any tips but he didnt mention that so i figured just get the a/f right and I'd be done...i found a couple of different fixes so thats not the issue the issue is pretty much anyone with a large cam needs to make sure their tuner knows of these issues so they dont have to go back and forth having to fix them because in auto's it has a really bad effect on things...really bad.

You need to determine what MAP the car is idling at, then set the min and max values in the P0121 Parameters within 10kpa of your idle speed map.

I fixed the P0121 error code I was having with my Grand Am cam and A4 setup with LS1 Edit.

Hope this helps.

Mybe that code is what's keeping the power down in my combo too. If I can't get the tuning right i'll end up getting the mail order tune from TSP.
