Head Stud Trouble So I was going through the final torque sequence and was on the final ARP studd and the damn think broke off in the block! Luckily it was one of the short ones and I should be able to drill it and get it out with a easy-out but I cant believe it broke, have any of you had this happen? Does anyone have a single stud they could sell me?
You can buy individual parts straight from ARP, or from Summit or Jeg's if you know the exact part number. BTW, get that torque wrench calibrated! Never heard of an ARP bolt/stud failure due to anything but a faulty wrench...

Yea it was a brand new one from O'Rileys and the other head torqued up perfect and all the other bolts did to, this was the last one I had to do... Seem like it always happens when your almost done.
If so, Yes the studs are the same for pre '03 and '04+
BTW the torque on that stud is very low. Did you lubricate the threads with ultra torque lube? Made sure the stud bottom'd out in the block finger tight?

it should come out with an easy out since they are finger tight in there..
as long as the thread is fine your good to go, and in worse case senario get a helicoil kit for it..

Yep. Crazy that it happened too. Lots of guys even take the little ones to 28#. Did you used the ARP lube?
Either way just call ARP. You don't need a part #... They'll know what to send you.

It wasn't one of the small ones across the top, it was one of the main ones. Luckily it was one of the short main ones though so it's only a inch or so down in the block. Gonna try to drill it and pull get it out today, hopefully it works.
If it was installed properly, it should simply spin right out with ease. Where did it snap? Flush with the block or down in the hole?

Called ARP today and they are sending me a new stud free of charge. More than happy with their products and customer support, may cost a little more but way worth it to me.
