rocker arm over torque?!?
I am in the process of replacing bent pushrods on my engine right now. I am about to start torquing down the rocker arms and the instructions on ls1info.com say to torque them down to 23 ft/lbs. My problem is my torque wrench only goes as low as 25 ft/lbs. Is this ok? Or do I need to buy another torque wrench that goes lower?

One question, are you installing stock length push rods, and stock rocker arms?

Good, then maybe, if you absolutely HAD to do it. I'd still say go buy a wrench if you can. The problem is the heads are aluminum. You'd be overstressing the threads, but not by much. At least with all stock parts you don't have to worry about mechanical geometry (too tight = valves staying open). I'm sure you won't be the first guy to do it this way (if you decide to).
I once heard someone say move the push rod up and down while torquing the rocker nuts. Once the play is gone, turn the nut a 1/2 turn and be done with it. I kinda like since I don't own a torque wrench.
Are you using an extension on the TQ wrench? If you are then that will make a difference on the TQ spec's, read up on the specifications on your TQ wrench you may not be very far off

i cant wait tell he post back up help me rockers are tapping what is the tq spec. You can do it by feel. Tighten tell you fell them stop then you are good. you will beable to feel the rocker and the gide plate seat and then you konw you are there. If you want them to be exasct you need to tune the motor over and do each cyclender at top dead center.
renting a torque wrench this evening and should have everything back together soon. I got instructions from ls1info and just took the section related to the rockers in part of a heads/cam replace write up. They say to use loctite and torque them down to 22 ft/lbs.
