1.89 accelerated lift rocker swap test
we are finishing up stage III of the VHP POWER PACKAGE with the installation of the 1.89 rockers, pushrods, guideplates, springs, locks and retainers. so, we'll get to see just what the rocker package will produce on the wife's car. the headers are part of STAGE IV. so. i'm a little ahead of myself. but, BASSANI needed an as close to stock as possible car for the test.

titled this wrong. they actually put in the 1.89 accelerated lift rocker kit in. they want me to drive it 50-100 miles before strapping it to the dyno. so give me a couple days to get dyno results.

ok got the dyno done for the 1.89 accelerated lift rocker and dual spring kit today. what the dyno doesn't show is the better throttle response and acceleration below 3000 rpm. with the stock converter, anything below 2600 rpm is sluggish. that is almost gone now. lot smoother and quicker pickup. you'll also notice the rocker and spring kit got rid of the knock just above 5500 rpm that you can see on the graph.

ok went to track last night. before rockers and springs was 13.141 @ 106.86 now it's 13.054 @ 107.32 even with nitto 245/50-16 drag radials, i still couldn't get any better than a 1.966 60ft. needs a converter bad.

Get a 3000 plus stall torque converter with a shift kit and thatshould help. When I installed my Midwest 3000 stall 2.5 STR converter and a shift kit I improved my quarter mile time by .45 seconds. My 60 ft time went from 2.0 to 1.8 seconds.
The nitto's are good on the street but for the track you might consider a set of ET Streets.
Also a set of long tubed headers should help another 0.3 sec and 3 mph higher trap speeds.
I hope this helps.
Good luck,
Al

i know it needs a converter. but it's the wife's car. not sure how she would handle the acceleration . plus VHP heads are next on the list of parts to complete their stage IV package. the nittos hooked just fine. even at 26 psi. the last run i made, i loaded the converter. it went 13.050 @ 106.91 .04 better et. but .4 mph lower. did a 1.966 doing that. the best just flooring it from idle, with no spin, was a 1.97
