Default Home ported cylinder heads

What kind of results are you guys getting by doing them on your own? Flow numbers (if avail), track times or dyno numbers would be helpful.

You have gotten ahead of me. I was just curious to see if all the hype over the aftermarket CNC'd heads are worth it or if I should take it to a local cylinder head porter.

Well, in my case, I used a local porter. I was able to acheive exactly what I wanted through experimentation. It has been a little work, but the results were better than I thought. Bottom line, if you have an experienced race shop that has done some LSX heads, and has a good rep with Chevy race engines, then go for it.

A good local guy can do the job. Find somebody that can weld and redo the chambers instead of milling the damn things as well.

If by Aftermarket CNC Head you mean the AFR heads, they may or may not make any more power but do have a thicker deck height. That means a lot if you're going to use a power adder.

If you don't mean AFR by all means get someplace local to do them, Steigs would do a good job but they are $$$$. If you go to Peak Performance talk to Jon Crockett, he knows Rob (the owner) really well and can help you out with getting a good head, since its Hit or miss with Peak now-a-days.... or you talk to a certain local shop that is a TEA dealer
