Default Z-ROD 10W-30 Amsoil Synthetic Oil ?

Hi guys,

I've been told to run this in my LS1. I drive the car about 3k miles per year and it is stored from November to March. I've been running Royal Purple in the past and want to change it up.

This being 10w-30, is that alright to run over 5w-30 year round?

Thanks

I run this oil. It provides higher ZDDP and phosphorous levels that have been since removed from Mobil-1 and other oils that meet the latest EPA standards. It also provides much better corrosion protection for storage of the car since its made for hot rods and other cars typically not driven year round. I also store my car in a "car bag" to help keep out moisture. This oil is also at the upper end of the 30W viscosity range which helps as well.

If you go to the Amsoil web site and pay $10 for a perferred customer, you can save a lot by ordering it over the internet.

That oil is a good choice. Here is a helpful link you may want to look at:

Thanks for the heads up! I have a "half assed" car bag. Just a tarp on the garage floor, car cover over the car, damp rid tub in the interior. lol

I am currently running Amsoil 10W-40, but may try this out when I change the oil in early may. My car only sees 1500-2000 miles per year.

I am near the salt water, you really have to be careful of the corrosion here.

Absolutely, I could imagine man. I wish I had one of those car bags. They're so damn cool.
