Default Exhaust Valve porting on 317 Heads <pics>

I am curious to see what everyone thinks about porting out the exhaust port on my heads. They are '317' heads that I am going to put on the motor going into my Typhoon. The exhaust flanges are stock GM parts.

Does anyone know if there is anything that would prohibit making the exhaust ports larger ?

It's usually safe to remove .040"- .060" from the roof at the exit of the port. Since there are water jackets along the roof of the port, be careful haow much you grind.

How much were your new castings?
