I just purchased a set of New In Box, ported 2 months ago, TEA Stage 1.5, 5.3L CNC'd Heads from a 3rd party (not directly from TEA).
They're flowed at;
.100 71.8 61.4
.200 139.9 122.5
.300 203.4 186.1
.400 247.2 236.3
.500 283.7 255.0
.550 297.8 258.1
.600 309.6 260.8
Before installing them, I'm thinkin' of a few things:
A) I'm thinkin' of sending them back to TEA for some Hand Finishing. I've spoken with them and they said there is some torque to be gained by doing this. I think a 10 cfm increase is realistic also.
B) I'd like to purchase an LSX intake and send it along with the heads for port matching.
So, in your-all's opinion, do you thing I'm wasting my money doing all of this?
If the end results of all this extra porting and matching yields an extra 10-15 horsepower over what I would have seen by just bolting the heads -as they are now- , I would consider this whole process worth it. Plus, any possible torque gains and power gains under the curve are also worth it IMO.
C) Should I go 78mm or 90mm for the LSx???!!
Current setup on my 2002 M6 car:
Full Bolt-Ons
TSP 231/237 .598/.595 112 Cam
3" True Duals
Dynoed 390 recently, with the new 4.11 Moser 9" installed.
THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Actually those heads are from me.
Ive installed an lsx intake on the same combination and i didnt see much of a port match problem at all. Its the REALLY large stg 3 big runner stroker heads that are more in need of port matching.
I personally dont know if the hand finishing it going to benefit or not. But it cant hurt. TEA's stuff is so good out of the box, its amazing they can improve it. Actually im looking at the head right now, and they appear to be hand blended right where the intake port starts and i think on the exhaust port opening as well. but in the bowl area etc it is still all cnc. So ask them if thats thier hand blending, if so ,then they are already done.
2) Go with the 78MM LSX

Right now my TEA stg. 2.5 heads are getting Hand finished to Comp Level, and soon I'll be sending my LSX intake to them for port matching as well to said heads.
If you're striving for every last pony like I am it couldn't hurt.

Well, I'd like to know that everything is maxed out to its potential before bolting everything on. And if, there's a little room for improvement, I'd invest in taking advantage of that. I just want to bolt these last things on and stop modding the engine (at least enjoy the H/C setup for some time 'till I decide to go stroker).
