This might be kind of a dumb question but the c-clamp type valve spring compressors are ok to use on zo6 hollow/sodium valves right? AI installed all my valve springs and I want to change out 2 springs for checker springs to check PTV. My heads are off and I rented the c clamp type compressor from advance auto.

I don't recommend them, I use ProForms valve spring compressor. When you get stiffer springs for a bigger cam the cheap autozone c clamp ones break or just don't work good.

I don't mean is the autozone one good. I mean is that type of compressor ok for these heads/valves

I tried a c clamp type and had no luck at all.Ended up buying a Proforms, it worked fine.

If you mean the type of valve spring compressor that goes over the retainer and presses against the valve face it should work as long as it doesn't tough any critical surfaces. Never used that type on an LSx type of head but have used on plenty of others without an issue.

Just don't use the claw type that physically grabs the valve spring.
