Default Blowing egr plug out of LS1 intake

new LS1 crate motor, new mail order tune. Primed it then went to fire it up. It cranked and cranked then shot the rubber EGR Plug on the LS1 intake 10 feet into the air. Obviously something is not right, any ideas. Spark plug wires are hooked up properly. Any ideas/ experience would be appreciated.

fuel pressure is 60psi when cranking, I verified there is spark. If this thing had a distributor i would say it was 180* out but EFI no dizzy. Maybe my new tune is jacked up or intake valve is being held open. According to my software im at 12.5* advanced while cranking. No codes in the computer.

Yes the camshaft was installed dot to dot (confirmed via pictures).

The only thing I can think of off hand is too long of pushrods since it's installed dot to dot and the dizzy can't be 180 out.

You didn't change reluctor wheels or anything like that did you?

Did it even try to fire? Or just backfiring through the intake?

Nope I didn't hear it even try to fire. I cranked it for maybe 10 seconds. It didn't backfire until the end of the 10 seconds then it sounded like one cylinder attempted to fire followed by the EGR plug shooting way up in the air followed by the white fuel vapor coming out of the EGR plug whole.

Are you using a modified factory harness or aftermarket.

How about you tell us what you are running. It would be a little easier to help diagnose if we knew what we were working on.

It looks like a modified factory harness from a 00' Camaro with the 00' Camaro PCM. I did not start the swap im just the "cleaner" so to speak. Its a LS1 in a ford ranger

Ok that makes sense. Your previous posts were almost cryptic in what you were working on. I've read a lot of your posts and they normally are pretty good. This one through me for a loop.

Are you scanning/logging any data? I would start checking to make sure that the coils are wired up properly, if they are not then its basically the same thing as the dizzy being installed wrong.

If you are the "cleaner", it sounds like you have a lot of work cut out for yourself. It's time to get some wiring diagrams, DMM, and a way to scan/data log.

Yes sir I scan and data log via HP Tuners. Although I must admit I would currently consider myself a novice with the tuning software. I have the FSM and wiring diagrams on my Alldata and Mitchell. Tomorrow I will go back though the injector wires and make sure the right color is in the right place. The coil packs came off of a working transplant but I did remove and reinstall one of the coil packs to test on another job, so I guess I could have put that one coil pack back on backwards.

weird, definitely seems like timing..I understand its a new crate engine, but it might be worth it to swap cam sensor .... make sure it is still dot to dot as well.

Yes it is dot to dot. I checked it a bunch of times and took pics of it being dot to dot before i put it in the vehicle. If it was the cam sensor i was under the impression it would fire but run like ****. I say this because i forgot to connect the crank sensor on a LS2 GTO build a while back. It ran but sounded like dog ****. Also i am getting RPMs on my scanner so i think that means the crank sensor is working.

Update: Wow that was a little exhausting. Got it all figured out. The Tech who modified the wiring harness got pretty creative with his work. Basically the wiring for all the coil packs were improperly routed. Got it fired up and running. Thank you ya'll
