I plan to keep is south of 7k but if it's safe to go more why not...

MUCH less aggressive. The LSL is what I'd call two steps down from the LSK lobe and the LXL is what I'd call 3-4 steps down from the LSK lobe.

LSK lobes will normally need valve spring replacement after 10k-15k miles. LSL lobes can go 15-20k and a LSL intake lobe in conjunction with a LXL exhaust can go 20-25k if not 30k if you're keeping up with installed height religiously.

Perfect, Brian confirmed the LS7 lifters will work just fine with the rest of my valve train. Head gaskets just came in today, cam should be in within a week or so. Than I can bring the oil pan and cam into Livernois and we should have the shortblock back shortly there after.
Shipping the rockers off to AI to have the bearings upgraded and they should have the heads to me sometime next month.
Going to power wash the engine bay and do some prep work this weekend. Things are starting to come together...

Update

Cam, head gaskets and other miclanious gaskets came in last week. Livernois sent me an e-mail stating the shortblock is finished, just waiting on my cam, oil pan, oil pick up, lifter etc... I should be dropping that stuff off later this week and have the shortblock hopefully by next week.

Well, dropped some parts off at Livernois Friday. got a peak at the motor along with a shop tour. there was some real interesting awesome builds going on, everything from a re-sleeved 5.4L Ford (350cid) running 35lbs of boost to a twin turbo 5th gen Camaro. Here are some pics of my small potato's short block along with a pic of their CNC machine in the middle of porting a 4 valve ford head.

Update....

Got started on buttoning this baby up during the holiday weekend. Ran into a problem, I was told the wrong year of the block so I ordered the wrong head studs.... turns out the block is 2004 or after, the longer studs were too long as you can see in the below picture. A quick call to Speed inc and there is a new set on the way.

My buddy and I will be going to the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix Saturday and hopefully we can make some real headway this weekend.

maverick18, If I must say the orange powder coated tins look great. I was thinking of going with black but may reconsider after looking at yours. Did you powder coat in inside as well or just the outside? Where did you get your powder coating materials?

I get my powder from powderbuythepound.com, I tried to go with a matte wrinkle finish (think ferrari intake maniford) by adding some "gloss killer" and a wrinkle additive but it didn't work out too well. The wrinkle worked good but the gloss killer didn't dull the finish very much, I was still pretty pleased with the results.

I tried to keep the powder off the machined finishs and inside of the covers as much as possible. Powderbuythepound sells a nice high temp tape that works great for covering that stuff up. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I've got two questions for you:

1) I know you're planning on staying N/A, but did you inquire to how that shortblock would withstand Nitrous? Just curious because the price for their forged shortblock is so good. I would assume it could handle a 200 shot, but not sure.

2) Did you consider going with a ProFlo XT or Holley Hi Rise Intake? They are a fraction of the cost of FAST setup and I've seen some pretty impressive results with them on 383ci and up combos.

Didn't ask about the nitrous but I think I remember them saying if I get bored it could handle a 150 shot no problem.

I haven't looked into intake alternitaves yet, just going with the LS6 for now. I just want to get this thing on the road in time for the dream cruise.

That is pretty interesting though, I will have to look up those intakes...

update, I have been pretty busy the last couple months. The past week or two a hand full of buddies and my self put our noses to the grind stone. A couple cases of beer and boxes of pizza later the motor is in. We even got her fired up last night...
