408 Short Block W/Stock LS1 Accessories?
Still exploring my options on LS/LQ
I was considering buying a wrecked LS1/T56 car after this summer. Then I got to thinking it would probably be wise to rebuild the motor. Then what if it needed machine work?
I want a bigger CI than the LS1, but I really don't need all the more power. In reality I would really like a 6.6 Liter LQ just for name's sake.
I was looking at this http://www.texas-speed.com/p-3541-ts...ort-block.aspx
but would really like a few less cubes (yes I know, I'm being ridiculous.)
Now my question is, If I were to buy a wrecked LS1 car, could I get away with running all the accessories from the LS1 on the LQ motor? I would probably change cam/springs etc anyway.
In reality it wouldn't be ridiculously more expensive than rebuilding the LS1 (but still $2,000 or so)
Thanks

Yes you can run fbody accessories on a lq you just gotta drill out one hole on the block. Its pretty simple. Try to get a lq9 so you will atleast have the higher compression piston.

But in all reality I don't need a fully forged motor... $4,000 for a short block seems kind of a lot for what I want. I really only want 400-450hp.
Building one though, I don't know how much cheaper I would end up.
