Default Engine clacking/rattling.

Just installed a motor has about 5k miles on top end. 30k on bottom end.

TSP 233/239 112 lsa
243 heads

Have a strange noise when i rev above 2500rpm. Like a clacking noise.

Pulled both covers nothing out of the ordinatary. Springs are single behives i guess with the cam kit. Stock rockers are good, 7.4" pushrods that all appear to be straight.

Lifter? Bent Valve?

I'm going to call TSP and see what length pushrods they recommend. Lifters as well as everything else top end only has 5k miles.

If the rockers were not torqued to spec in correct sequence could that be the noise i hear?

Car has just under 40psi at idle and over 50 when revving.

Belt was squeaking some in video i got rid of that shortly after video. Was going to get it dyno tuned wednesday hoping to figure out this noise before then...

The GoPro may deliver better sound quality for the video if needed. You can hear the noise but it could be more defined. Hoping for some good feedback broseph.

Kind of hard to hear it but if the pushrods arent the correct length that could be causing it.get a pushrod length checker and see.i have seen some ls1s that sound like sewing machines. Also it wouldnt hurt to drain the oil and check for any metal shavings.

I actually did just drop the oil filer because oil level was little high. No metal shavings that i could find. It's def not as audible as that video but similar sounding...I can't hear it over the exhaust when driving the car.

I retorqued the rockers to factory spec and no change. Motor has a lot of piston slap when cold, it goes away then when warm i get the rattle.

I'll drop the filter again.

na thats a valve train noise. It traces the RPM's... Spun bearings tap with the RPM's not trace them.

my car just started making that same noise in the 1st video. i thought/think it was rod knock. but in anyother car iver ever actually spun a rod bearing, it was much louder.

I don't know if it was starting in first video and now it's completely spun. What gets me is the squeak and it's not a constant knock/tap. Almost like a lifter broke and is dancing around on the cam. I have no idea but it blows. I have like 10 miles on this motor. Haven't even beat on it because i was going to get it tuned this week.

I'm at a loss and just frustrated i spent all this time and money on junk.

Deez01ls1 - I'll let ya know i haven't decided what i'm going to do just yet.

mite have a bad lifter .remove heads and lifters.check the trunnion bearings on the rocker arms.what thickness head gasket was used ? head gasket thickness can effect your lifter preload.
