03 LQ4 with LS2 rods and pistons need re-balance
I am in the process of building a mild cam only 6.0 for my silverado. Picked up an LQ4 and now i am looking at a set of LS2 rods and pistons. My question is do i need to get the rotating assembly balanced? I know the answer is yes, and it is better to be safe than sorry. But the rods/pistons are all from the same motor. I have read alot about the need to balance when using aftermarket parts but havent found any answer on if using all stock parts, especially matching rods/pistons if it is really necessary. If i weigh the rod/piston assemblies and all are close to matching (within reason ofcourse) should i be fairly safe? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If the rods/pistons AND the crank are from the same motor then you might not need to re-balance them (although it's good to verify the balance). If the rods/pistons are new but you're reusing the crank from the old engine then you will definitely need to balance it as the balance is currently setup for the old rods/pistons.
