For ~$1600 I'd rather get some TFS as cast 220s or maybe the PRC as cast also.
$1600 into AI 243s pretty much maxes you out, so while they are great heads they are about done. With as cast aftermarket heads they perform just as well but have gobs of potential left in them.

Yea I noticed the dart heads and was very interested, but the price just increased $250 bucks on top of the internet prices, so for shipping one way and the machining your looking at around 2100 bucks with the BTR kit. They just haven't gotten around to updating the internet prices. For 2100 bucks wouldn't you look into a set like PRC 227s that are on sale at Texas speed for right under 2300 which have better flow numbers for what I understood.

About 243s: "Our 243/799 cores are $500. The 232cc head with the BTR spring kit & our cores would be $1,795 + NC sales tax on the parts only."
Darts+Trick flow response: "The prices on the Dart & TrickFlow options are out of date. We just have not had time to revise. Add $250 to the Darts & $200 to the TF."
As of two days ago, I would be glad to forward this email to you.

Buying cores and having AI work them is a crap shoot. Be careful on the cores you choose. They may need more work than you bargained for (Guides, new valves, etc and Shipping both ways)
You really can't go wrong with TSP heads and they give you new heads. Or else get a nice set of PRC or TFS aftermarket heads.

My heads arrived there on Friday, were machined on the weekend, and back on the brown truck Monday. I exchanged emails with AI over the weekend to confirm final mill numbers and to compete payment. Don't believe every negative thing ya hear mmmk.

They were very quick on responses also when I contacted them.

Has nothing to do with AI, you find some junk core it will cost you more money to get them up to snuff. Buying complete heads is less of a burden on the buyer (PRC/TFS). Besides AI doesn't sell used cores, he only sells new...I want to say he quoted me $800 for cores. That will end up costing one a whole lot more $$ total. Unless you have a good set of cores lying around, AI isn't the best advice to give someone when it comes to cost. AI heads are not that superior to pay so much more. There are better options out there.
