Noob Needs help picking DD heads/Cam Combo
I know i know, i need to read the stickies... lol Well i have and im stilll not sure what i should be getting.
Here is what i have now,
HPE S Cam
Meziere Elec Water Pump
Kooks 1 3/4 headers
TSP True Duals Exhaust
LS6 intake
FTI TH400 Stage 3 Trans with 3600 Stall
3.55 Rear gears
While i love the sound of the S Cam i would really like something a little more DD friendly, maybe its just the tune but the thing is pretty thirsty for gas and is a little rough down low.
What I really want is a heads/cam combo that is more DD friendly, will pari well with my current trans/stall set up and will be good for occasional 1/4 mile passes.
All help is much appreciated!

Stock heads at the moment, so (almost) anything is an improvement at this point. Car could stand to be a little better tuned, so i figured id try to knock those two out at the same time.

The reason im wanting to change up the cam is that i have read it is more top end friendly, and i would rather have something that makes more power down low. I have contemplated selling the TH400 and getting a built 4lsomething, but since then i have decided to move a little closer to work, so my commute will be MUCH shorter (literally going from a daily commute of 30-40 miles round trip to a max of 4-5 miles round trip). So im going to keep the built Turbo.
I figure if im going to do a cam swap for more down low, might as well take off the stock heads and get something to match the cam.

The car idles around 800-1000, usually closer to 800. The car was already tuned when i got it, but im thinking it could stand a little better tune. At this point i think im going to try and get it all in one shot, do the heads/cam/ tune all at once.

What are 852 heads? Are they any better than my stock 241's? Just curious cuz i found a pair with under 100 miles for $400? Would they be worth picking up and getting ported?

The more i read about this cam(well the MS3 which is VERY similar) most people seem to think that it is too much for a stock cube 346? Should i go with something smaller, in the 228-232 range and just do a heads cam combo?

That's the setup I have...with PRC 5.3 heads. Car drives like stock and makes 470WHP. Not to hate on the dude that is selling the heads a few posts above me, but the price that he is asking for those heads alone is right around what TSP sells their H/C kits for. You won't beat the value of that deal, hands down. Save yourself the retarded amounts of money for "amazing heads" and put a bottle in your car with the extra cash.
