Default Head swap

Alright guys, I am fixing to get a set of ls6 heads. What all do I need parts wise for the swap? Also if anyone could point me out to a write up that would be great.

Thanks

What year block are you putting the heads on? That will tell you which type headbolts you will need series 1 has short and long bolts, series 2 has all the same length. Unless you ARP bolts never reuse headbolts.

are you just doing the heads, no cam swap? If heads only you will need head gaskets, GM MLS , Cometic etc. New GM head bolts or ARP bolts and I would recommend an ARP M11 thread chaser to clean the head bolt threads in the block, very critical step to spend time on and get right. I would also go ahead and get a new set of lifters and lifter trays (4X) while your at it. Use WD40 and a green SOS pad to clean the block.

This^^^you might as well upgrade some things while your in there and have the heads of anyways. A cam swap wouldnt be a bad idea either if you have the funds. It will save you work later down the road.

Dont forget a spring compressor if your new heads dont already come assembled.
