We have several Cloyes Billet Timing sets that would do the job. Each one of these sets comes with their Extreme Duty Z chain and the main difference is timing adjustability. The options are Hex-A-Just, 9 Keyway or 3 Keyway and will be reliable in your application.

The GM heavy duty replacement chain is what I used, looked a lot thicker than the pathetic stock bicycle chain I removed...I think a quality single roller is fine, the above mentioned sets are nice. If you are doing it on a budget the N-Motion set is nice as well. Had I known about the N-motion set when I did my swap, that is the route I would have gone and will if I ever have to pull the timing cover again.

Thanks for the shoutout. We've had nothing but great results with the N-Motion timing sets.

We went with a COMP double roller. You have to use an SLP oil pump with it for clearance, though.

I used Rollmaster Gold Series double-roller. Has an IWIS chain, nitrited billet gears, and is adjustable. Nice piece. I run the Synergy ported L99 HV Pump. It clears.

get the ls2 chain $40 bucks, Trickflow ls1 damper/bracket $50 and is better than a double roller...

kurt urban had a big write up and he tested a bunch of chains, and without a damper it won't matter much and is still succeptable to binding.

oh forgot to say, add an ATI super damper to your list... not being able to control the engine harmonics breaks chains, and use a chain damper to control slack and slap...

that will be a solid setup and will help keep your crank alive too, assuming your stock.

my 2 cents

yep...I have seen duals and singles both break, thankfully it has not happened in my cars...As much as it hurts to un-*** 400 bucks for a great damper, its the right thing to do. I had a new ASP damper once that was so bad it caused random misfires at WOT! Suffice to say that sumbitch was pulled with the quickness... I have heard good things about the powerbond and would run one on a budget, but ATI if budget allows.....
