Default comp cam spring compressor.....JUNK

Just finshed with 2000 trans am, put cam, springs and pushrods in this weekend.
DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT get the comp cam double spring compressor. Payed 100.00 buck for it and it does not line up the valve straight threw the spring so you can not get the retainers back on the valve, had to use a screw driver to pry the spring. (not a good thing).

Oh yea by the way I have a comp cam double spring compressor for sale. ha ha. I wouldn't give it to my worst enemy.

I used the same tool I think for my springs and it was my first time doing it, it kinda sucked for awhile because you have to get both sets of keepers to line up but once I started using the screwdriver to line them up it was way easier. I didn't feel like it was that dangerous but was a lot better than the other tool I'd heard of

This really isn't the place for this discussion. I am going to move it to Gen III Internal.

It's not going to migically align itself...

Next time hit it with your purse.

I used homemade version of the cheap one on ebay. Just a flat piece of metal with a bolt hole and the horse shoe cut out. Worked pretty good for me and it was free. Just use a screwdriver to keep everything straight.

The crane tool does , at least the 4 times I've used it . Guess I was just lucky .

This comp tool is the cheapest piece of **** I've seen , should cost 40$ not 100 , the bolts supplied are inferior strength , the alignment of this tool is terrible , you shouldn't have to use a screwdriver to align it on every spring change .

Maybe next time we can you show us rookies how its done

No problem. Would you like a video?

Maybe a picture book wrote in crayon would suit your style a bit better?

All jokes aside, I can't use the Crane Compressor... AFR Heads

Why not dr whigham ?
I have the Crane Cams Valve Spring Compressors #99472-1, and that's what I used when I swapped to PAC-1521 valve springs on my AFR 205 heads.

Instead of a picture book with crayons, I'd prefer a how-to with women in scantily clad clothing doing the work...

You've gotta grind the tool to make it fit. MeentSS02, another mod on here let me borrow his and it didn't fit. Wasnt even close. That's why I got the Comp. I wasnt going to grind a borrowed tool. I've got no issues with it. I sure as hell don't use a screwdriver to align it though,

It takes a few tries to get everything aligned, yes. But it's nothing hard or complicated.

Jake, lemme see what I can conjure up about a "scantily clad write-up"

I know some really hot women at my gym who do fitness competitions. I should get them involved in a "how-to" video when I get my car done.
