Question is going to synth oil safe after 73k miles?

is going to synth oil safe after 73k miles of normal 'dino' oil?
engine doesn't eat much oil right now, everything seems to be fine.
is it safe to go to synth, or should i just stick to tried and true and what the car is used to so far?

Synthetic is always better for performance and protection. Regardless of mileage, it can be used. Just don't use it if you are leaking or burning oil. Synthetic is "slipperier" so it can make a small leak turn into a large leak.

That's exactly the reason why i'm asking, i remember i went from dino to synth in my supra, valve stem steals started leaking causing a nice puff of smoke from exhaust on starts and stop light takeoffs.
What's the best way to check for leaks that would affect my decision here?

step 1. fill the motor with synthetic
step 2. floor the gas pedal
step 3. check for smoke in rear of car
step 4. verify smoke was not from tires
