OK so I spoke too soon I guess. Seemed to be fine just reving it in the driveway but then took it for a spin and the problem is still there.
Replaced the cam sensor and no change.
Working on getting some data loging going so I can see what the ecu is doing.

I would check plug and wires. I had a similar problem that started around 4,500rpm. Broken Plug Wire was the issue.(Taylor Wires suck IMO) Installed MSD's and could not be happier. Good Luck finding problem.

The plugs and wires are new, checked connections and everything is fine.
Visually checked the rocker arms and springs, everything is fine.
Datalogging cable en route, hopefully that shines some light on the issue.

I think when you replace the crank sensor you have to do a crank relearn don't you? Did you take it somewhere to do the sensor or did you do it yourself?
Well I had to when I replaced the Crank sensor on my cobalt anyways. Not sure if its the same with the V

A crank relearn is alway a good thing to do, but I don't think it will help in this situation. Plus they tend to learn in over time given a couple of full test drives.
