Default Top End Rebuild

I am in talks with a guy who has a SOM WS6 T/A for sale. He said there is a lifter knocking and when he took it to a performance shop they suggested a total top end rebuild. He was quoted about $2500 for cam, lifters, springs, rocker arms, and polished heads. It was supposed to take it to 430-450 hp. The $2500 included him removing and installing the engine himself. For them to do it is another $800. If I was to have the engine rebuilt with factory replacement parts how much would I be looking at for parts? Also how intensive is a top swap rebuild? I have a couple people that know how to work on cars that could assist. Would I be better off just swapping engines instead? Any and all input is appreciated. Thanks.

Price is to high for my liking, you can find way lower mileage cars for that price.
