Default LS1 383 Stroker build. heads and cam

Initially i was going to stick with the stock bottom end, but after some thought i decided to hell with it and bought a stroker kit for some extra power. So now all my research on heads and cams have went down the drain because i have a bigger cubic inch block now. The motor is still in the machine shop, so I am trying to get heads and cam before it gets back. Any input or related setups would be great!

Somebody recommended me a cam yesterday at a speed shop of this grind:
232/236 .580/.580 on a 114.....When i saw this i thought it was very small for a 383 or even a 346. Has anyone ran this setup or something close? He said with stock heads i would be 400+ and with a new set of good heads i would be 450ish. To me that doesnt seem right. Before talking to him I was thinking something more like an ms4 or a custom grind with a .6xx lift.

Yah i havent had a chance to i work until 530 every day and he is not in at that time.

Basically what i need to know here is if that cam is too small? He said he recommends that cam to everyone running a 383 stroker ls1 for daily driving and some track purposes.

Whats your goals with car? DD? Track car? That cam is a decent sized can in my book for a 346, I would think maybe a little small for a 383 though. You should talk with a shop though. Any reputable one will put you on the right path.

I ran a 383 with afr 205s and a 236/238 112 cam and it ran 11.08 in a full weight camaro with a m6. I never had it on a dyno but the heads and cam eventually were sold and put on a 6.0 and dyno'd 475 rwhp.

I think the $25 to Patrick G for a cam spec is money well spent. He takes dozens of variables into consideration to spec a cam for your needs and wants.
