I was thinking the damage looked like the head came off first too.
Why did it even have aftermarket valves in it?

Next time? Ferrea 6000 series. The heads don't fall off. There are lots of cheaper offshore made stainless valves out there, beware.

Once again, valve float. You better check those springs b4 it happens again.

In regards to being asked about when to change springs; call your spring supplier or manufacturer for confirmation.

Well, Manley makes a Severe Duty Stainless valve.
Sometimes the manufacturer name is stamped on the stem up above the keeper grooves.

My AFR heads had Ferrea valves. Rat motor.

Maybe floated the valve and it hit the piston snapping the head off?

In his sig, it states LS3 heads. Most people won't run aggressive ramps/lobes with solid(L92) valves. Having a HD-SS valve that might poss. be even heavier isn't a good thing. I'd contact who set up the heads/spec'd the cam.

I would put stock ls3 valves in it. Get a quality spring.

Make sure the valve is not close to the piston.

Also make sure the rod is not bent after the valve hit it.

A guy in Texas did the work to the heads and he's going to help get it fixed. I just have to pay to get the actual head fixed hes getting me a new rod and piston. Also I don't think it was valve float or a ptv clearance problem because there isn't any other marks on the other pistons at all. And I called Thompson on a short block or boost you guys had on here I'm going to fixed this engine all up and then sale it and do a turbo build.

Also the build only has 3-4k miles on it so I don't think it's parts being worn out yet

just buy a new head. It is not worth even trying to fix that one. A ls3 head is about $325 and then you have 1/2 the new valves

Ok I'll probably do that then and see if the guy that did the heads the first time can port and mill it again
