Default made a decision for my first cam!!

ok well after many questions and posts, i finally decided on what kind of cam i am getting for the first one in the car... it should be here next week or so...

I decided to go with Comp Cam with specs 224/230 .580/.570 112lsa

the mods i will have in the car with the cam are Pacesetter LTs, Y-pipe, turndown, no cats, MTI lid, 3.73s...

well i am mostly tried to achieve sound, not really going to race the car soon... at least not until more mods and MONEY come along... so what do you think of this setup for a nice aggressive sound?

Hmmm....maybe a 224/224 on a 110 would get the same sound with a little more power in the midrange. I just feel like the 6 extra degrees of exhaust duration are wasted in a NA application. Or, to make better power up top I might go with a 227/227 112. Again, same idle more or less.

Yup. Waste of time and money. Not to mention our time giving you advice when all you wanted was a rumpy idle as inexpensively as possible.

my tr224 112 had a nice lope to it untuned, Maybe even the hotcam is a good choice if you are going for sound.

My 228/228 makes pretty good mid range power & traps 120+ in the qtr. 93 in the 1/8th. My clutch is shot, atleast for now & with some ET Streets I think I can run 11.4-11.6 pretty easy. Oh, & it sounds real lumpy, especially with a open cutout, Fred

I only have 1 cutout on my flow master cat back. It is one I bought from Summit for $30 & had welded in. I have thought how nice it would be though to flip a switch and have it open I do have ported Ls1 heads with stock valves though, Fred

How does the low end feel with the 228/228? Are your times cam only or do you have heads? I am about to go the h/c route, and am communicating with TSP on a setup. Leaning toward a 228 single pattern on a 111 lsa w/ 5.3 stage 2's. Don't want to spin the motor to the moon. Should have a nice thump to it as well

My setup is running a 228/228 .571/.571 on a 112. The heads are Ls1 heads with stock valves, that have been ported & polished flowing 300 cfm @ .550. Other than that the heads have comp 918 springs & that's it. I can give you info who gave me the heads if you want. Just PM me. I shift mine at 6600 & have LT's. Fred
