Default Which heads for hot cam

So I'm looking for a set of heads for my ss. Right now I have the gmpp hot cam with supporting mods and I'm very happy with this cam. I'm just looking for a good head. The two I was considering are texas speeds 2.5 ls6 head or the 2.5 5.3 head. Which would you guys recommend? And at what cc chamber should I mill to? Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated

i was going with a similar setup,i think people ended up recommending the 5.3s because u get a little more hp with the higher compression.

I look at it this way, if you're happy with the hot cam, then you'll most likely be happy with any CNC'd head on the market. It doesn't sound like you're going for a maximum potential build so I'd save money by going with the TSP 5.3's and call it a day. Good deals can be had in the for sale section on these once a week or so.

Yep, u said it right. I'm not looking for every hp I can get. That being said. You feel the 5.3's will out perform the ls6 heads with my cam? Any thoughts on chamber volume I should shoot for?

TSP has said that both of those heads usually dyno within 5 hp of each other, so really it's your call. I'd prefer LS6's if I were buying for my setup, just because of the resale value and room to grow. If I was in your position I'd save the $2-300(I believe) and pick up the 5.3's, or just throw on a stock/ported set of $4-500 243's and gain 20~30hp.

I'd go 2.5 5.3's and talk to TSP about milling for 59cc, stock GM gaskets.

I don't think so. But I would just order them without springs and reuse my ls6 springs

I gained 38rwhp and 30rwtq over cam only by adding TSP 2.5 5.3 heads. I changed nothing else at all either. IMO they are the best budget stock casting $ can buy. I've always seen good results with these heads.
