I have 2000 T/A ws6. At his site under FAQ it lists the ls1 takes 6.5 quarts with the filter. My car manual says ........5.5 quarts with filter. Mobil one lube shop were I got my oil changed have listed 5.5 . Whats the Answer so I put this to bed ? Dip stick reads with 5.5 right at the high mark. thks

 

Until the dipstick reads full. I think 6 quarts. I think the manuals were misprinted back then.

 

I have always put 6 quarts in my LS1 cars.

 

I've always ran 6 and its been dead on the top of the full mark. Here recently on the car that sees the track alot I run 7.

 

I do 5.5 keep the the 1/2 a quart for a little later because some will burn off. Nothing wrong with 6.

 

I do 6 on my 2000 z28 it is 5.5 without starting it but I always run 6 to have some extra for the top end. O do think the vette oil pan is 7 tho.

 

Thanks for the info, I put half quart of syn Lucas in, thought it would be good because of the water like 5w-30 I put in.
