Question LS6 Manifold / Throttle Body choice?

Hey guys,

99 Formula Firebird - LS1

Quick question regarding which TB I should use for my LS6 manifold. I just replaced my old LS1 manifold with the LS6 and would like to know what the best TB would be to go with it.

Thanks in advance

IMO, ported stock TB.

I'd skip knife edging the blade, only because I've see to many idle issues afterwards.
BTW, if you clean up the gm TB good then go over it with a dremel with wire brush attachments it'll look like new.

Ive been digging up old posts on the TPiS LS6 intake, I know you used it. Would you get it over a FAST 90?

Yes buy this spacer adapterhttp://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=321138270390
Converts your ls6 3 bolt to accept a 90mm 4 bolt, go with Nick Williams TB for the win!

I've had mine since 02. Fast gets you a bit more up top.

If you have an LS6 intake and stock TB, just get them ported. They can pick up decent gains.

Peak Speed Shop will do them both for $325. At least I think they'll do the LS6. Ask them.

I always thought there was minimal gains from porting a stock ls6 intake?

Yes, but I got mine at a swap meat. Got a fair deal back when Fast wasn't even born yet.
I works good for up to 6.0s in a 2500>6500 rpm range

I just run a stock port/polished TB I got from Bo White years ago. All I have had to do is clean it periodically. Bo did great work & I'm sure still does even though he isn't a sponsor anymore. He also did my 5.3L heads for an amazing price. I think I only paid $60 if I remember correctly for the TB work & had to send him my stock TB back as a core exchange.

Ya i feel like it will be stronger down low than the FAST which is what Im interested in (100% street driven) but when you factor in the $850 for the bigger snout plus their TB your not far off from a FAST and new NW TB once you sell the LS6..
