Default engine back together with lifter tick

I just put my 5.3 back together after bending a rod. all I replaced was 1 rid and main and rid bearings. I have a ticking at idle and gets louder and faster with rpm. sounds like lifter noise. with valve covers off and a stethoscope it is loudest on cylinder 3 exhaust and cylinder 4 intake I am listening right on the rocker bolt head. there are no misfires and no bent pushrods and I've moved the rocker arms to other cylinders and the noise doesn't follow

Did you ever figure out the issue? I just had a rebuilt with all new pistons, lifters, rods, etc. I have a valve ticking from bank 1 (pretty sure). Its only been about 1000 miles since the rebuilt. The ticking is on cold start up after sitting or even on restart after 5-10 mins. It last 4-5 mins then tapers off. During the first 4-5 mins. in idle its quiet and only ticks under increased rpm and returns to quiet until revved again.

157500 miles prior to rebuild (due to oil consumption)

It's probably a clogged/bad lifter.

Most likely the oring on the oil pickup tube is damaged, common problem.
I,d bet money its the oring.................classic oring leaking symptoms you described.
