whining noise from engine

whining noise from engine Today I was hitting the gas hard and did a spin, right after I had a whining noise coming from my engine. it gets louder/higher pitch as I accelerate. Does anyone know what this is?

If you still have power steering, check to see if the noise is coming from your power steering pump....check its fluid level and if its low be sure you put the right fluid in it (some of our pumps will be destroyed if you put power steering fluid in them if they call for ATF)
Pull your power steering cap/dipstick while the engine's idling, if there are bubbles in the fluid that's your whining noise. A few slow turns of the steering wheel lock to lock should purge the air.
