Default Just installed SLP oilpump/double timing chain, clearance issue. Please help!

Hello I just installed the double chain , and slp oil pump on my 1999 ls1 . And I can't get my timing cover to fit and seal properly . I grinded down the inside of the cover , and now have put a small pin hole in it .(aka it can't be grinde anymore) I read that you can take the spacers off of the pump . But idk how i feel about that . my pick up tube doesn't fit properly ether . Any and all help would be awesome !

Now that I think about and look at it . I don't think it would be a good idea to remove the spacers haha . And does a ls2 cover work better ? And yes I have searched this , just haven't found a clear answer ! Thanks

The whole point of running the SLP pump is so you don't have to clearance the cover or use pump spacers when installing a double roller timing chain.. Take the spacers off and you will have proper clearance everywhere.

Are you going to weld the pin hole or buy a new cover?

If you take the spacers off, make damn sure that the timing chain has plenty of clearance from the oil pump. It'll hit right behind the casting for the pickup tube. You can also take a little material out of the oil pump itself if the cover gets thin.

Default oil pump

you need to grind the oil pump itself..i just put on a rollmaster double roller and had to grind the oil pump in a couple of places to get the cover to fit..just text me at 706 466 six227 and i will send you a few pics..........Bob
