Default stainless valves

I have a set of milled 317 heads and I am going to replace the valves and have a valve job done. I bought some new ferrea F6230 stainless intake valves
2.00" from a member on here for a great price.Do I have to buy the exhaust stainless valves from the same company or can I use say another manufactures stainless valves(like rev). As long as they are Ls1 valves will that work ok. I can get a deal on some 1.55" from another company.
Can you use 1.57" exhaust valves with 2.00" intake valves, instead of 1.55". My friend says that you can't do that. What do you guys think?

Who is milling the heads? They can probably do whatever you want. But I would ask them... That's kind of their realm of knowledge. You can run whatever you want, it just may not be optimized for proper flow.

Something wrong with your stock valves?
I find it weird to replace with same size as stock

I had 2.02" intake/1.575" exhaust valves in my old car but the valve seats have to be cut for bigger valves if you want to change to bigger valves than stock. Youll have to get a valve job also...

No the stock valves are in good shape.I thought that the stainless were better valves. That's why I was going to replace them. Are the stock valves any good? A machine shop told me that my money was better spent porting these heads than replacing them with 2.02" 1.57" valves. That's why I am asking you guys about this.

You will get far more gain out of porting, aftermarket same-size valves will gain nothing, and going up .02" won't do anything either without porting. Just port and leave the stock valves with a proper valve job.

Stock ones are stainless and are pretty good valves. When you do a valve job, they will be lapped. Yeah, the shop was correct, I run stock valves to pretty much 500rwhp, but more realistically to 450 or so.

Stock valves are fine. I actually run stock LS3 intake valves on my heads... they've just been "turned" down to the correct size. I run a Ferrea stainless exhaust valve.

TEA and Ai both do porting on stock heads and keep stock valves. You lose velocity when you move to a larger valve, but if you have more bore or need more upper lift/RPM flow, they can help.
