I dunno what I get on the city but I get an average of 26mpg on the freeway IF I am just cruising with my 395.

Prolly under 15 in the city but I dont drive like an old lady either.

If you care about mileage don't get a stall.

I don't think your mileage will change that much if you stay out of it.

IMO MPG on a built motor isn't an issue.

Horsepower takes fuel to make, there is no way around it.

That cam is a little anemic for a 383. As far as fuel mileage....what's that? An LS1 can make good power, and do it effeciently. However, your still talking more cubes, more air, more fuel, and more power. If your worried about fuel mileage, you should stick to a lower compression, near stock configuration.

The fastest cars I have ever owned were all gas pigs. I had a 79 Trans Am with a built 455 that got maybe 9 mpg. After the blower install on my LT1 Z-28 the mileage dropped off to less then 15 mpg city. And now my SS, before my motor spun a bearing, I think I was getting about 15-17 mpg city on the 6 speed. After adding the TH400 and large stall, I stopped worrying about fuel mileage. It dropped off the charts. I'm going to a 382 stroker with high compression pistons, a bigger stall, and I will be buying my fuel in 55 gallon drums.

This is the wrong hobby to worry about gas mileage. Buy a 4 banger for every day driving, and let the gas hog sit til the weekend. I drive an 01 Monte Carlo SS for my daily driver.

even a 224/224 cam will sound near stock on a 383. I had one in mine years ago. got 27mpg on the highway once with it too now with my bigger, but still small cam and 470+rwhp I got 18.5 mpg mixed city/hwy and I was not driving it nice

WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY IT WAS GOING IN A BLAZER

Of course it isn't going to get good mileage
