Major internal differences in 99-03 lq4?
Major internal differences in 99-03 lq4? Ive been searching and cant find anything definitive. I doing a stockish rebuild of a 99 lq4 for my work truck. Im going with .20 over pistons. Ive looked up gasket sets and bearing kits they list the kit fitting 99-00 and 01-03. Im going to run the 99 block with the long oem crank stock rods. I will bolt on a new set of aluminum 243 heads. From what ive found they claim the internal bearing tolerances were tightened up in the 2000 year. Also that the heads were changed from iron to aluminum 317 casting with a updated mls headgasket along with a new cam to complement the new heads.
If possible id like to use the 01-03 kit since the bearings will be a updated design and it will have the mls head gasket. Does anyone some in sight to this situation. I would really appreciate some guidance. Thanks Chuck.

That 99 6.0 has the longer crank, at the rear, if it's still factory. The longer crank is good for bolting in a 4L80e or an early tranny, but nothing else. It sticks out about .400 farther than anything newer than 2000.
