If so I'd rather go that route and out the other 700 in nitrous
First, I'd use TMS...

Call Kyle and talk to him. Tell him your goals and budget and see what he can do.

So I'm debating this myself.

If I had a decent machine shop here, I could expect to pay ~$450 for the machine work on my LS6 block. Then you have $200 for the balancing. Another $150 or so to polish the stock crank.

Then you add these parts:

Wiseco 2618 Forged 3.905" Flat Top Pistons w/3.2cc Valve Reliefs $649.99
Wiseco GFX Ring Set $-
Compstar 6.125" 4340 H-Beam Connecting Rods w/ARP 2000 Bolts $534.99
Clevite H-Series Main/Rod Bearing CB663HN/MS2199H Combo $184.99
Dura-Bond Cam Bearing Set $20.99
ARP 234-5608 LS1 Main Stud Kitdum $189.99

1580 parts + 800 in labor + you assemble it... or add another 450 for assembly. That's 2800 with your block. You get the ARP Mains and the better rods vs what Thompson does. So it's a wash cuz you could get those upgrades from Thompson and sell your shortblock for 300-400.

Exactly what I was thinking.. I'm just not going with the forged rods but I am getting the arp rod bolts

And I might either go with probe or weisco pistons because I'm only going to throw a 100 or 150 shot of spray

Unless you plan on a big FI build, skip the mains.

And btw that 450 is probably too low. It's probably closer to 500-700 on the machine work.

TMS prices are good.

You can get the Aluminum 346 with stock rods and Probe pistons for like 2199 + 300 shipping.

Plus 500 if I don't send in core, but that's what the guy at G&G in tomball tx told me to clean it new cam bearings and decking would be 450 and I read on here he's pretty good even if i buy all parts let him do all labor i think its still cheaper by a few hundred bucks
