I'm also running a 216/220. But correct me if I'm wrong, aren't we not supposed to be using a higher ratio rockers with a new cam? Whats the difference between locked and unlocked?

locked usually 10-25 hp higher #'s

on the comp low lift cams, I believe its fine to run the larger ratio. I may try that too.. they aren't a fast ramp like all the new cams out..

I can't believe an auto car unlocked with just a cam ,any size, will do over 360 ish.. JMO... unless dynos lie... which some do..

i dont understand the hangup some people are having (not you) . It's torque under the curve, unlocked, as you drive it down the strip. The flash stall, then whatcha got to the end (when the a4 shifts). that counts.

peak whp is meaningless except for bench racers. dyno's lie, all tracks are different, build a well rounded car and rock it.

yes, my point.. thanks for the same reasoning. Yet I still don't see how some of these dyno #'s are sooo high..

What mph are you running on your 11.7 run?
That makes me feel better about my car.

As to the dynos lie... I am beginning to agree in some cases they can be misleading, however, what is very interesting is the dyno by mph. This is where I can see how though by rpm my unlocked dyno run took it on the chin to the locked run, I clearly see that my speed, say 60-100mph is several tenths faster unlocked vs. locked... now the part that the dyno doesn't quite replicate is what difference there will be in slip/stall etc. under real world loads instead of just spinning a drum. One part I can't figure out is how/if the dynojet adjust for rear end ratio. If I have 4.56 gears in my car the speed to certain mph will be way faster but how does the dyno know that it's not due to my engine?

I am a little confused about this cam thing because it seems that some guys make the same amount of power whether it be a 224 224 vs 228 230 or even 231 237?
every dyno is different, every tuner is different & every cam is different...in my case my #'s can be very decieving and most would say inaccurate because I dynoed in second gear instead of 3rd...there can easily be upwards of 5-10hp difference between different dynojet dynos. Tuners also play a big part in making power...if you order a cam from X sponsor, bring it into Y sponsor for tuning Y sponsor might not know all the ins and outs of the cam and how to best tune it, not only taking more time to tune it but more time to tune it RIGHT. In addition cams are made differently with different events going on, different lobes and such...the 231/237 cam with soft lobes may make darn near the same power as a FM13 cam but for the price of the tsp cam i went with that and personally I love the cam...also split cams seem to make less tq then non split cams generally speaking so thats another factor...as many will tell you bigger is not always better, but there are a 100 ways to make that power cam only.
