Can not confirm nor deny who's rockers but it's a reputable company. It's not thier fault, its just the amount of mass needed for a roller tip.

For most applications, no. If you are building a high lift high RPM, then I would say go for it. At that point you have high end lifters that can handle 180-200 on the seat and 450-550 open, the springs to match, so why not run a RR, at that point.

What springs do you have that will do that? 1209 is 160/510... shim it up and go?

Depending on lift the 1207X-1209X will do or the 1222X. The seat load is the most important aspect, so if you are high 400's open, on a more oe rpm range I would feel you are good to go. For the extreme stuff we recomend the 1530, but that requires (usually) at minimum a 1.900" installed height.

Cool.

I actually have the PAC-1904 springs now. 150/400. Perfect for the stock rocker with lightweight valves, endurance lobes, 11/32 pushrods, and short-travel lifters.

Yea "at all" is bad wording high lift high rpm go for it. Normal bolt motor I don't see it being cost effective.

Exactly, it will more than likely set you back further than anticipated.

Look at the design of your rocker compared to mine. Scirpion initially had issues with their LS1 stuff. They found out about the problem and fixed it. Haven't seen or heard of any of the new design rockers failing.

Street car = stock rocker arms w/ upgrade.
Race car = Jesel shaft rocker arm system.

IMO for the LS motors there is no need for spending the money on roller rockers unless your building a full tilt motor.

BTW I'm about to pull apart my motor in the next couple of weeks that developed a bad tick (bearing or lifter). It has around 143,000 miles on this engine but the stock rocker arms (no upgrade) have been on there for the life of the car which has 235,000 miles on them!!!! Yes they were pulled from the original motor., Pioneer dbl. valve springs w/ Ti retainers and locks, real good push rods running a Comp cam XER 224 - .581" - 114 lsa both intake and exhaust.

I can't wait to tear it apart and see the wear on the parts and engine.

Good luck

I have always believed that if you can afford them use them. I have run the comp pro magnums for like 7 years now, and never had a problem with them.

Trust me, If I could afford a nice roller system and a nice set of lifters, I would. At .650 lift I believe I am near the limits of the OE rockers. I am actually playing around with the idea of getting the OE's DLC coated. When I have enough time I want to do some spintron comparisons on a high lift cam with straight OE and DLC coated tips.

Any idea of the costs on that and who might be providing that service?

Kurt Urban was providing that service. I'd have to seriously DIG to find that thread though. Personally I'd just pick up the phone Monday and call. I *think* the coating was around $200? Don't quote me though.

And agree with the Scorpions. Had some major issues a few years ago, but not a single failure that I'm aware of since their last revision. And 100% American made. But again, it's weight. I was told by 3 specific builders to sell the ones I had and not even install them; stick with trunion upgraded stockers. They were full aware of my .631 lift as well.

Take that for what's its worth.
