I would recommend you look into a 240/248 .605/.615 for a setup like that. We have used that a number of times in street driven 408s and been able to make the power you are asking for while retaining good street manners. The Texas Giant is a very large cam, it won't beat the valve train to death but you definitely notice how large it is. I think something like the 240/248 might be a little more friendly on the street.

My 408 has a 236/242 113 LSA +3 with a 0.500' lift. I dont have numbers on it yet but it drives like my car did stock. But when u floor it it definitely moves.

I swapped my 234/242 114 .600/.610 LG G5X3 that was in my 418 to a 234/242 117+2 .600/.615. As I couldn't put up with the surging & bucking at light throttle/low rpm.

The new cam drives 10x better as my overlap is now 4* vs 10*. This cam still has great low end, and gained some mid range to top end power.

Your tuner couldn't get a cam with 10 degrees of overlap to drive nice in a 416? Time for a new tuner...

8 degrees can be daily driven in a 347. A 416 can swallow up a whole lot more overlap.

Iv had the giant. Not something I would want to deal with on the street for dd use. It has alot of overlap. It will buck in the lower rpms. not a nice cam if your in traffic alot with a 6spd. Pulls hard uptop but not so much in the lower end. I swaped it for a custom cam. Less dur with more lift. Less overlap as well and it ran 1000times better and make a **** load of power in the lower/mid range. Car idle smooth as well. Didn't lose any power and gained tq. The giant is a old grind. Been around for years. There are better stuff out nowadays but the giant still has its place.

I have a 237/251 .610"/.632" 115+3 on HUC lobes. Just pulled it out of my 416 9.3:1 comp. with only 1000 miles.

Why not email Martin at tick performance for something custom? His customer service is top notch.

the streetability aspect is all in your tuner. MAKE SURE TO GO TO A REPUTABLE LSX TUNER! I have a 235/242 635/615 112+2 in my 408 and i have no surge/bucking issues. But o what 06Sierra2 said, get a custom grind cam to match YOUR setup. Martin at Tick is great as well at Pat G would did mine!

For a DD 408 with PRC 225's I'd grind:
237/242 .622"/.615" 114lsa

Nice under the curve and average power with 11.5 degrees of overlap. Those 225 heads will make great average power on a 408 and with a little bit of an early EVO you'll get some top end out of it as well without having to close the intake valve excessively late.

If you have what I consider the "normal" off the shelf 2-3cc flat top Wiseco/Diamond/Mahle piston from TSP you could get the 225's in a 68cc chamber, run a .051" gasket and be right around 11.4-11.5:1 static compression. With the cam I mentioned it would make for a very nice driving and performing combination. With a Fast 92 or 102 I don't see why it couldn't make 500+rwhp/480rwtq.

We made 506/444 with those heads on a stock bottom end 6.0 with the V.2 Polluter cam and a Fast 92 and 11.45:1 compression. I don't see why with a slightly less aggressive cam you couldn't make the same amount of hp and much more torque with the 4" stroke crank.

My 408 has a 236/242 .629/.629 114+2 LSA, and i daily drive it. The more cubic inches really help to make the larger cams more street friendly along with a good tuner.

If I were to grind the cam it would be on Comp LSL intake and LXL exhaust lobes.
