ok, i searched and searched and found nothing. Here is the deal. I have a 98 z28 with a tired old ls1 in it that spun a rod bearing ( i assume) car has a faint knock is down on power etc. I was planning to be done for the year but have one race i want to do that is a memorial race for a fallen racer. I'm throwing a used crank, used pistons rings and bearings in it. the only new parts will be head gaskets, possibly a pan gasket, and head bolts. this only has to last about 100 miles and 5-6 1/8 mile passes The car will be on a 200 shot through a nitrous outlet plate.
SETUP:
243's
ls6 intake
comp 238/242 cam (very similar to ms3 specs.)
stock "refreshed" short block
I do not know what head gaskets are on it at the moment I have sprayed 150 at the car earlier in the year and was shifting it with 175k and stock rod bolts at 7000 and it loved it. I started daily driving it and one day on the way to work it decided to start tapping. The car is just "tossed" together and I have corrected many issues but still have a long way to go. as stated this is another toss together just to race one last race this year.
My main question is what thickness of head gaskets should I go with I think the bump in compression would be nice for that extra bit of power but dont want clearence problems. will i have ptv issues if I put a thin gasket on.
