i cant get my timing chain back on the cam...
ordered ls2 chain part number... 12586782 to replace my ls1 chain..... now im trying to put this bastard back on and its like its 3-4mm too short... i am trying to use the original cam sprocket with the new chain,,, are the ls1 and ls2 sprocket the same diameter??? im at TDC on crank and can get a bolt started in the sprocket into the cam but cant get a second bolt to start... its like the chain is too short... also poured oil all over it,,, still wont fit.... any help???

Is the one bolt that is started fully seated or only just started? You can use that one bolt to gently pull the cam/sprocket into place but don't for anything. Also, make sure the cam pin is engaged correctly.
figured it out after about 3hours.... i had put a new oil pump on it and torqued it down to specs... well i dont know if the pump had a little extra casting and wouldnt allow the chain all the way on the sprocket... i took the oil pump loose and pryed it away from the block and the chain seated on the sprocket... what a pain..... for future reference the pump is a melling 295
