How low does your oil pressure go? I purchased this 99SS with 114k miles on the clock. It now has 120k. Yesterday after driving around for a while, I noticed the oil pressure guage was lower than normal. Since there are only 5 marks on the guage, I'll have to guess how low it was. The needle fell a little below the halfway mark, maybe around 35psi. I parked the car for around 15 minutes, after restart, I noticed that the guage was now back around 40 psi at idle. Do I need to be concerned? I've driven in 100 degree heat before and have noticed the guage fall below that halfway mark, just not this much below. I think I have 10w30 Mobil 1 synthetic but it could be 5w30. Only 1500 miles since last change.

I've see vehicles' oil pressure drop to about 35 while idling (hot of course) but not while driving. I personally use 15w50 Mobil 1 in my car and SAE 30 conventional in my truck. No low oil pressure here! Could be your oil pump considering your mileage. Hell, may be your bearings, may be time for a rebuild........
