Default Highest mileage LS/Vortec

this is in the wrong section, but I find it an interesting topic to most aswell as myself. What’s the highest mileage GM LS/Vortec engine or car on LS1tech or someone they knew & witnessed? Reason I ask is an older man brought in his 2001 suburban for an oil change (Full Synthetic). Talking with him he revealed a few things to me why he had 414,305 miles for only a 2001. He’s been using the truck for daily long distance driving for work. He claimed he drove around 100 miles on a daily basis for the past 11 years. Now that is what you call taking care of a vehicle

my brothers 02 silverado has 220 k on it and has been getting sprayed a 75 shot on the stock tune for 10k miles. Engine has never been opened up except for a water pump and knock sensors.

I'm just past 230k now. Doing valve springs and seals this weekend. There aren't many parts in the drivetrain that haven't been replaced or rebuilt. Still on the stock short block though (knock on wood!).

I bought a 2003 Suburban last year from a man who claimed he didn't know the mileage...(dash was missing), when I got the title back, last time it had been registered was 09'. It had 397,667 on the clock...and he drove it another 3 years.

My 81 camaro's L33 got 205k+ and still has great oil pressure and runs like a clock..I couldn't believe the great condition of the cylinder walls when I refreshed the gaskets, previous owner used synthetic oil all it's life, which I could def tell by the gold tint to all the internals and block...conversely I had previously bought a "low mile" 40k mile iron 5.3 and it looked like **** inside, had that nasty creamy stuff on valve covers, etc....

Morale of story is if you wanna cheap out and use bullshit oil and never change the oil you will end up reaping what you sow (translation: getting out what you put in)

Well, I've had my 01 Z71 Silverado for a few years now, got it with 99,989 miles on it. Hasn't leaked a drop since I've had it, doesn't burn oil, runs M1 10/40 15k oil, and now has 217,516 miles on it. Still doesn't leak and gets more than 25mpg at 65mph. GM really did their home work when they put the LS line of motors together. Oh these are good days we live in, now if only gas were a bit cheaper...
