Default Torquer v3 DD?

Finally got my lid/headers/ypipe/cutout installed. Next is my 3200 Circle D stall, 3.73 gears and a Cam. I want some chop to it but I still DD my car, so would a Torquer v3 be a god choice? Every video on yourube the v3 sounds so damn good!

Thanks!

Most cams sound the same given the same exhaust unless they are baby cams.

I would not run that cam in a DD, the intake lift is way too much it will wear out lifters, springs, and rockers much faster.

Martin @ tick does have cams that fit this bill exactly. His torqueMax series is built for people like you who want the chop, but want to have the DD driveability and longevity.

Dont buy a cam because it sounds good. With that cam I wouldnt dd it, especially with a 3200 stall. I feel like a 3600 would be bare minimum and a 4000 would be best. People will say otherwise but thats just my opinion.

The 228r is one of the best dd cams and makes plenty of useable power for a street car.

A 228r is a great choice for a something that is going to be daily driven. Has a great curve and has plenty of power down low and up top.

I wouldn't DD drive it because its on LSK lobes....not because of its street manners. A good tuner can make that cam drive very well on the street. If you like the sound of it just get a cam on a 111lsa.

We have plenty of customers driving this cam as a DD setup. There is no doubt the LSK lobes are more aggressive and will go through springs a little quicker, that doesn't make it not a daily driver cam for the right person IMO.

I daily drive the torquer v3 cam w/yank pt4000 stall w/full exhaust & love it, I'm still on the stock 2.73 gear. My future plans is to get a ls6 intake or fast intake & tb 102/102, 243 ported heads, 373s, & a better tune. I plan to go procharged later on. As of now it has good street manners nothing wrong with it. On the topend pulls pretty good since im cam & stall only for now going on 10k miles since its been installed.

Why is everyone afraid of this cam as a DD? 231/234 isn't that big. At all.

I DD a 229/236 .631.631 and it's fine. That's with stock gears also. It's all in the tune. Yes, check your springs every 15k or so. When they wear out, replace them.

Cam that's about to go in is a HELL of a lot bigger than what I mentioned. Again, it's in the tune.

Search LSK lobes and do some research before you buy. Why take the chance when there are so many safer choices that will make the same power.

I have run the torquer V3 for two years and its been good to me...but its only a weekend warrior.

theres nothing wrong with dding a v3, just much better choices out there that would sacrifice little to no power and have a lot better valve train longevity. lsk lobes make great power, they just wear stuff out fast in the process. you don't need the ramp rates lsk lobes have in a car that will see 99% street use

V3 is a good cam.....3200 stall is likely gonna make it a tad weak in the midrange though IMO. Even a cam like a 224 benefits from a 3600-4k converter.

I have to agree the cam size isn't an issue at all, it's the 231 LSK(.643") intake lobes.
I'd rather see that that cam with 231 LSL(.617") intake lobes and some 234 LXL(.612") exhaust lobes.

I was considering the T3. Only thing that steered me away is the loss of low end and my car is a 98 that has the slower switching 02's which would be more of a pain to tune that it already was.
