CAM Question!
Im hoping someone from Texas speed will chime in here
I have a 97 corvette with mods in my sig. mostly stock right now
Previous to this car I had a 99 SS that had longtubes and a 228R that I installed.. I thought that cam was great for a daily and had great all around pull and id like to go with that same cam again for this car.. or possibly a 224 because I commute with this car
My question is Would it be stupid to do a cam without headers yet? I obviously know that Headers will really maximize a cam but with the going rate of headers for a corvette I dont think ill be able to do them any time soon and if im going to spend the money, id like to get the most bang for my buck.. especially since I could get my cam done for around 700..
what should I do!!

Putting in a cam before anything else happens a lot more than you would think. While it may not be the most common way to do things, its not going to hurt anything and would still improve performance. If you liked the 228r before, I would just go with the same cam being its a commuter. In case you didn't know, we do offer our own stainless steel header setup for your c5 as well, at what I believe to be a pretty reasonable price.

Power between the 2 cams is 5-10hp. I would doubt gas mileage would really change between the 2. Atleast not enough to really notice. Its common for these cars to be modded and still have 20+mpg
maybe ill just go with that same one again then.. Im getting 34mpg freeway right now and id like to keep as much of that as I can. Maybe deleting the cats and doing the "lean cruise mode" will make up for the difference
