lq4 swap question... stock timing set/oil pump?
Ok guys, I'm doing an lq4 swap in my 01 t/a. The car will be TWIN TURBO'D, already have thekit.
Parts being used:
Ls3 heads, Ls3 intake, 92mm tb
VTC3 cam, LS7 lifters, ls9 head gaskets, arp head studs
My question: when you guys out there use these motors and say "stock lq4",
Are you using the stock timing set and oil pump??? (Ls1 or lq4, etc)

A lot of people opt for a ported pump for higher oil flow over the stock pumps, but there are plenty out there running stock pumps without an issue. If it were me, I would personally run a new timing chain and a ported pump if the funds were there. We offer a remanufactured ported LS6 oil pump on our site that has become very popular and they sell for $80!
Hope this helps!
